Shaykh Ismā‘īl Al-Saftī Al-Mālikī mentions in his “Hāshiyah Al-Saftī”(pg.28), a super-commentary on Al-‘Ashmāwīyah, six etiquettes of sleep:

1) to sleep in the state of purity

2) not to sleep naked (without underclothes)

3) to sleep facing the qiblah

4) to sleep on one’s right side

5) that the last thing a person say before he sleep is some remembrance of Allah (dua, praise etc.)

6) to repent (tawbah)
