Question: As-salamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullah.
Can we pray with blood on our garment? And can we pray with some blood from a cat on our garment?
Answer: In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful, and blessings and peace upon our master Muhammad, his family, companions and those who follow their noble way.
Wa alaikum salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barkatuh,
May Allah ta’ala accept your effort to understand His Deen.
In the Maliki school there is a general dispensation for a small amount of blood, vomit and puss on the body or clothing of the praying person due to the general hardship of being free from these impurities. This is true for the blood, vomit and puss of the person themselves or from other than him such as a cat in your case.
The amount that is excused (ma’fu anhu) is about the size of the area (not volume) of the palm of the hand. That is about the diameter of an American Silver Dollar (slightly larger than the Dutch 2 ½ Guilder). [Dardir: Sharh al-Kabīr]
